Im a landscape photographer and time lapse enthusiast. I work with three topographic maps apps, several star constellation apps, and The Photographers Ephemeris. I didnt like the idea of paying for maps at first, but man alive! It unlocks so much, the maps are by far the clearest Ive worked with, period. I do hiking, so knowing distance by tracing, the elevation changes Ill have to do, or when I roam to with the ability to trace my own route? Brilliant! Its so legible, clean, and easy to use. Sometimes I go though narrow breaks in thick brush or fences that have fallen, this allows me to retrace and slip through the same passages. You can trace a route, download maps for that trace, you can see elevation by sliding through the trace, its just astounding. When I went down to Mexico and Arizona, I precached my maps via airport wifi, and hotel wifi, and the moment I lost phone service, I had all my maps ready to go! And GPS location isnt relevant to phone service, so even abroad I have maps. Dont let the bad reviews sway you, the basic maps are great, but dropping 15 bucks gets you a dozen different type of topographic maps with different representations and different legends, and incredibly clear concise maps. Bravo!!
